13 Main Street, Skibbereen.
Early 1930’s/20th Century imposing brick and cut stone fronted institutional building, built as a Bank premises for the Munster & Leinster Bank, with managers residence over, given Protected Structure Status in 2006.The original designer was Cork based architect & engineer James F McMullen (d.1933).
The interiors of the building had undergone a number of renovations and with evidence of repeated severe water penetration through the porous façade and chimney flanks in the highly exposed climate of the southwest, necessitated the introduction of completely new internally wall lining, with ventilated cavities, to the main body of the building.
The exposed brick and stonework works included raking out and re-pointing all joints, new lead flashings, new slate roof & lead valley gutters, reconditioned rainwater goods and reconditioned timber sliding sash windows.
